GANGTOK, 16 June: Power Minister DD Bhutia paid a surprise
visit to the Lagyap Power House site at Jali Pool, Gangtok today.
A press release informs that the Minister has directed that
all maintenance work should be completed by the given deadline as per the norms
of the contractors failing which they will be liable for the loss incurred in
revenue by the department. He said that maintenance work has to be completed on
time so that the power house starts to generate power and earn revenue for the
state at the earliest possible.
The Minister also asked the concerned authorities to submit
details of the manpower deployed in the power house. The release further
mentions that many illegal encroachments in the power house area were noticed.
