GANGTOK, 16 June: The commencement of 9th Phase of State
Green Mission was observed at Dentam with a plantation drive where more than
five hundred rhododendron saplings were planted at Gurasay Dara at Shanku here.
As per a press release, the programme was jointly organized
by Gram Vikash Kendra-Dentam ; SDM Office-Dentam ; Shanku Radhu Khandu GP ;
Forest, Environment and Wild Life Management Department, Dentam.
The plantation work was carried out by all the Panchayat
Members of Shanku Radhu Khandu GP, Sabitri Thapa [Zilla Member], Dawa Jangmu
Sherpa [Zilla Member], Heads of Schools of Dentam, Gram Vikash Adhikari Dentam,
Bindhya Subba [RO, WL], Lalit Rai [RO, T], Gram Vikash Kendra officials and
local gentries of Dentam. More than seventy persons participated in the
plantation drive.
The release informs that the observance of Paryavaran
Mahotsav from 15-30 June in Dentam is being monitored by the Gram Vikash
Kendra, Dentam and SDM Office Dentam in collaboration with GPUs here. More
areas will be identified for such plantation drives during this Paryavaran
Mahotsav, the release adds.
