State Green School awardee celebrates Paryavaran Mahotsav

GANGTOK, 26 June: Government Primary School, Samdur, which had bagged the State Green School award 2014 on World Environment Day on 05 June, yesterday joined Sikkim in dedicating 10 Minutes to Earth with a plantation drive and an awareness rally.
Headmistress, Pema Sangmu Bhutia, began the observance by explaining the State Government’s “10 Minutes to Earth” initiative to the students and staff. The students, teachers, School Management Committee members, parents, local residents, army and the forest staff then joined the plantation drive.

The students also organized a rally carrying messages on conservation and protection of environment. More than 150 flowering plants like lagerstromia, bottle brush, lalpatey, cassia fistula etc were planted along the road side leading towards MP Golai to Samdur village.
