AKRS central committee dissolved, new office bearers take charge

GANGTOK, 06 July: The central committee of the Akhil Kirat Rai Sangh, Sikkim, was dissolved at a meeting held at the Paruhang Sapten Mangkhim, Ranka Rai Gaon, on Sunday. The meeting, an AKRS press release informs, was chaired by MB Rai. The central committee was dissolved in pursuance of the State Government circular directing that State Government employees can no longer take membership in associations.
The existing executive committee comprising of - Dr. SK Rai as president, Dr. Bimal Rai as vice president, Bimal Chandra Rai as the secretary general, Tara Sampang as treasurer, Santosh Rai as publicity secretary and Vivek Rai as office secretary, stepped down and the body was dissolved.
An adhoc AKRS central executive body has been constituted with CD Rai as president, DK Rai as vice president, Gopal Rajalim as secretary general, Ashok Rai as treasurer, Ashit Rai as publicity secretary and RB Rai as office secretary. Former presidents of all districts along with the executive members were felicitated.
Earlier, the construction of the Mangkhim at Ranka Rai Gaon was discussed. Mohan Dungmali, president of Paruhang Sapten Mangkhim, gave a brief account on the construction and utilization of funds sanctioned by the Government. The framework of the Mangkhim will be finished by the end of this year with the entire cost having escalated to Rs 15 crore, he informed.
