ICDS review meeting held in Namchi

NAMCHI, 16 July [IPR]: ICDS review meeting with Anganwadi workers and supervisors was organized today at Namchi Community Hall by ICDS Mission Social Justice Empowerment and Welfare Department. Minister for SJE & WD & Water Security and PHE Department, Tulsi Devi Rai was present on the occasion as chief guest along with Principal Secretary SJE & WD, GP Upadhyay, Social Welfare Mission Director, BB Subba, Joint Secretary Welfare Division Dushyant Pariyar, various other nodal officers from the department and Anganwadi workers.
Chief guest, Tulsi Devi Rai, in her address spoke about focusing on quality work to be done at ICDS centers by the Anganwadi workers at the grass root level. She also briefed about the level of hierarchy of the department and further requested the officials to the Anganwadi workers to implement efficiently the authorized schemes provided by the government for holistic development.
She applauded the commendable work that Anganwadi workers are doing at the rural level and highlighted the importance of nutritious food for children. She added that Anganwadi workers should be updated with the latest technology with innovative ideas in child care and work towards increasing the number of children to be admitted at ICDS centers located in the district.
She also informed the gathering regarding the ongoing schemes like Small Family Scheme, Kishori Shakti Yojana and celebration of Children’s Day. She further informed that at every constituency model ICDS will be constructed which shall contain modern equipments for a more child friendly surrounding.
Moreover she said that the department is developing software which will be installed in all the ICDS centers located at various districts for more transparency. In addition Mrs Rai also took note of the problems faced by the workers at the ICDS centers along with useful suggestions during the interactive session. She also spoke about initiating rewards and recognition for Anganwadi workers associated with successful execution of ICDS schemes and development in child care.
Speaking on the occasion Mission Director, Mr. Subba spoke about the significance of disseminating information about the various schemes available at ICDS centers.
Principal Secretary, GP Upadhyay informed that the ICDS program is one of the biggest programmes in the nation and state which focuses on providing quality education for children. The ICDS is now being implemented on mission mode and the Management Information System Form (MIS) will monitor and immediately report on the children's health along with any kind of problems faced by the ICDS centers for better and smooth functioning, he informed.
