Jorethang gears up for I-Day celebrations

Jorethang, 30 July [IPR]: A meeting in preparation for the celebration of the 68th Independence Day was convened at the Nagar Panchayat Bhawan here today. The meeting was chaired by SDM-Jorethang Tenzing Denzongpa and had area MLA, Health Minister AK Ghatani as chief guest accompanied by Joint Secretary, Sports (South) Kamal Chettri, Nagar Panchayat president Puroshtam Aggarwal, representatives from NGOs, schools, committees, banks and private companies.
The SDM informed about the formation of a new committee for the celebration of 68th Independence Day at Jorethang and delegated various responsibilities in matters of publicity, refreshments, sanitation etc to various departments and also to the people involved in the newly formed committee.
Mr. Denzongpa further interacted with the gathering present and also took feedback in order to make the Independence Day celebration successful.
Thanking everyone for attending the meeting, Mr. Ghatani stressed on working collectively for a grand and successful organization of the 68th Independence Day celebration in Jorethang. He also spoke about various miscellaneous activities to be conducted during the Independence Day celebrations by the concerned authorities where by students can take part and also showcase their talent.  He further spoke about the Independence Day celebration to be celebrated at all the GPUs in future at grand scale for developmental purpose.
Highlighting the increasing rate of suicide in the state he urged the school authorities present during the gathering to initiate various activities where students can take part and also to focus on local talent which can lead to positive growth in the future.
Additionally, Mr. Ghatani urged the authorities to invite former servicemen who have contributed for growth of the state to the I-Day celebrations so that they can be a symbol of inspiration for the students.
Taking a level further in his address he encouraged the assembled to aim at getting the State level award for successful celebration of the 68th Independence Day in Jorethang.
