North Sikkim runs for Green & Clean Sikkim

MANGAN, 30 June: As part of Paryavaran Mahotsav 2014, an Open Half Marathon for Men and Women was organised by the Forest Department in collaboration with the Sports & Youth Affairs Department on 28 June in North Sikkim.
The Marathon was flagged off by North District Magistrate, TN Kazi from the Community Centre to Ambithang and back covering 12 kilometers.
More than 300 men, women, girls and boys from all over the district, Gangtok, Army and NDRF Jawans participated in the marathon.
In the Men’s category, Gokul Neopaney of Gangtok bagged the first prize while Surya Subba, Mangan Senior Secondary School (MSSS) and Man Bahadur Subba, MSSS stood on second and third positions respectively.
In Women’s category, Dawkit Lepcha from Dzongu claimed the first prize while Bhagi Maya Limboo of Mangshila and Chandrika Subba, MSSS were placed in second and third positions respectively.

The DM-North, along with ADC/N Raj Yadav, DFO (T) Mangan Division, S. Saring, AD-Sports, Janim Lepcha gave away the trophy, certificates and cash prize of Rs 5000 each to the winners and Rs 3000 each and Rs 2000 each to the first and second runners up respectively. Besides this, those who were in the top ten were also provided cash prizes and certificates.
