SMU scholar defends dissertation on water quality in rural East Sikkim

GANGTOK, 14 July: Shubra Poonia, a research scholar in the Department of Microbiology, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences (SMIMS), successfully defended her PhD thesis on 03 July, an official press release informs.
Ms. Poonia’s submitted a thesis titled, “Study of water quality in rural areas of East Sikkim through physico-chemical and bacteriological analysis and antibiotic susceptibility of bacterial isolates”. Her research was carried out under the guidance of Prof (Dr) TSK Singh, Head, Dept. of Microbiology, SMIMS and Prof (Dr) Dechen C Tsering, Dept. of Microbiology, SMIMS.
She has been recommended for award of degree by the Board of Examiners of Sikkim Manipal University.
