12 ft Longchok to be installed at Tendong summit on 08 Aug - REBYNA RANA

GANGTOK, 04 Aug: A 12-foot tall stone [Longchok], brought all the way from Yuksom in West Sikkim, will be installed at the Tendong hill summit in South Sikkim to mark the Tendong Lho Rum Faat celebration this year on 08 August.
This was informed during a press meet by the Tendong Lho Rum Faat Celebration Committee 2014 today. The annual festival of the Lepcha community will begin with prayers on the evening of 07 August and the main function will be held on 08 August at the summit, informed president of the celebration committee, former MP, OT Lepcha.
Chief Minister Pawan Chamling is scheduled to attend the function as chief guest.
Mr. Lepcha informed that a two-hour walk [around 18kms] from Namchi to Damthang will also be organised as part of the celebration.
He further called upon all Sikkimese to celebrate the festival and come together to explore and preserve this rare culture and tradition for the coming generations.
The press meet was also attended by the general secretary of the celebration committee, Norzang Lepcha along with other members.
