Governor begins 3-day tour of north Sikkim, assures to take up road woes with Delhi

MANGAN, 20 Aug: Governor Shriniwas Patil arrived here today on a scheduled three-day tour of North Sikkim accompanied by First Lady Rajani Devi Patil.
The Governor was received at the Power Guest House by District officials led by DC-North TN Kazi and SP North, RN Yadav, and was presented a guard of honour by a Sikkim Police detachment.
Today, the Governor visited the Kanchenjunga Eco-Tourism Park construction site at Naga in Toong-Naga GPU where the Upadhakshya [North], NT Lepcha, explained the Boongthing School and Mun Research Centre projects.
He also interacted with the panchayats and public of Toong-Naga at the multipurpose ground where a demand petition requesting improvement of the road condition was submitted by the panchayat and public.
The Governor in turn assured the people that he will take up the matter with the central authorities at the earliest and also shared that tourism, hydropower and the organic farming held great potential in Sikkim and should harnessed it properly for the development of the state.
At Chungthang, the Governor was given a guard of honor by ITBP and accorded a warm welcome by the Sub-Divisional officials led by SDM Chungthang, ST Topgay. The Governor also enquired about the functioning of the Sub-divisional offices. The Governor will be visiting Lachen and Lachung on Thursday.
