ICFAI University Board of Governors meet

GANGTOK, 06 Aug: A meeting of the Board of Governors of the ICFAI University Sikkim was held on Tuesday chaired by the Chancellor of the University, Dr Surendra A Dave. Vice Chancellor SG Tashi reviewed the activities and salient events in the University, informs a press release.
Commending the performance of the University, especially, the Founder, Late Mr NJ Yasaswy’s vision of reaching professional education to the aspirants of the remotest regions of the country, the Chancellor recalled the achievements of the University especially noting the 100% placement of its alumni who had opted for placement in suitable assignments with a reasonable pay package. He exhorted all to enjoy the work in its true spirit since it involves the future of the country and Sikkim.
Simultaneously, a meeting of the Board of Management also took place at the same venue where various events of the immediate past in the State were taken note of  and all present resolved that nothing should let the ICFAI University deviate from its principal mission of equipping the students of Sikkim, the neighbouring regions and friendly neighbouring countries, Bhutan and Nepal, to be usefully employed and help in contributing to the society do that the right kind of development is ushered in.
Director, Higher Education, HRDD, J S Raje (IAS), while reviewing the recent events, expressed his happiness that the students of the ICFAI University had shown discipline and a positive attitude during the recent agitation of College students in the last two weeks of July 2014. He noted that none of the ICFAI University students had been involved in any incidents of violence and arson.
The members of Board later visited the Campus where they informally interacted with the University faculty and staff members. Dr SB Medhi [IAS, Retd and a member of Board of Governors] presented some books to the University Library. He also noted with satisfaction the interest shown by faculty members not only in their own professional development but also the keen willingness to take on any additional tasks towards the development of the students.
ICFAI University Sikkim is grateful to all members of the two boards, Govt of Sikkim (HRDD) and most important, its students and faculty for the initiatives that they have taken, the release adds.
