IT Secretary in National e-Gov AppStore Assessment Committee

GANGTOK, 25 Aug: The Secretary, Department of Information Technology, Rajesh Verma has been nominated as Member of National level e-Gov AppStore Assessment Committee as part of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream project of Digital India project.
The National e-Gov AppStore project aims to provide a unified platform for configurable government applications that can be rapidly made available to the states. The eGov AppStore would be a marketplace for buying and selling of government applications developed by the public and private agencies. These applications will be hosted on the National Cloud.
Along with Rajesh Verma, Shefali Dash [DDG, NIC], Renu Budhiraja [Sr. Director DeitY], Representative of DG, STQC are nominated as members of National level e-Gov AppStore Assessment Committee.
The Digital India programme is a transformed version of the already running National e-Governance Plan. The project aims to provide thrust to nine pillars identified as growth areas. These pillars include broadband highways, everywhere mobile connectivity, Public Internet Access Programme, e-Governance, e-Kranti (which aims to give electronic delivery of services), information for all, electronics manufacturing, IT for Jobs and early harvest programmes.
The project also aims to ensure that all villages in India have high speed Internet and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will head the monitoring group of the project and will aim to complete the project by 2019.
