SKM MLAs meet BJP president in New Delhi

GANGTOK, 27 Aug: Sikkim Krantikari Morcha MLAs met the Bharatiya Janta Party president, Amit Shah, today at the BJP Head Office in New Delhi. The team of SKM MLAs was led by the party president PS Tamang [Golay].
On Tuesday, SKM had extended support to the Bharatiya Janata Party Sikkim unit and its candidate Bikash Basnett [former SKM publicity secretary and also candidate in the April election] for the Rangang-Yangyang bye-election to be held on 13 September. The party had stated that the “consensus to support the BJP in the upcoming bye-election of Rangang-Yangang constituency has been built up fundamentally on the issue of corruption”.
The main political agenda which the BJP brought to the forefront and have been able to reach to the common voters of the country is the fight against corruption, SKM had said.
Today, the SKM party president congratulated Mr. Shah on having been appointed the BJP national president and also expressed the happiness of the people of Sikkim on BJP forming the government at the Centre.
He also conveyed to the BJP president the hope and aspirations of the people of Sikkim regarding the party’s mission to uproot poverty and fight corruption. During the meeting, the SKM team briefed Mr Shah about the prevailing situation in Sikkim, ranging from the sphere of politics to socioeconomic issues which seriously need to be addressed at the central level, the release mentions. The issue of restoration of democracy in Sikkim surfaced most prominently in the entire meeting, it is added.
Mr. Tamang also alleged that “pseudo democracy” exists in Sikkim under the SDF government.
